TUTORING

Private chemistry tutoring

Premium one-to-one online Chemistry support for students who need a more tailored approach.

For many students, a structured group programme will be the best starting point. Private tutoring is designed for students who need more individual attention, greater flexibility or targeted support.

A more tailored approach

Private tutoring is built around the student's current understanding, course stage and priorities. A session can focus on a difficult topic, a calculation, a piece of completed work, exam-style application or a particular area that needs more attention.

The aim is to provide focused one-to-one support without promising a particular grade or outcome.

Private tutoring is currently available for GCSE Chemistry, Combined Science chemistry and A Level Chemistry, subject to availability.

Start with the right level of support

Private tutoring is the most personalised option, but it will not be necessary for every student.

Structured group programmes offer the lowest-cost tutoring option per hour, while still providing regular Chemistry teaching, a clear learning sequence and structured support.

If you are in Year 11 or Year 13, explore the relevant group programme before deciding whether one-to-one tutoring is necessary.

AQA Year 11 Chemistry Core Skills Programme £640 total 10 monthly payments of £64 32 live 1-hour sessions equivalent to £20 per live teaching hour
AQA Year 13 Chemistry Mastery Programme £1,120 total 10 monthly payments of £112 32 live 2-hour sessions equivalent to £17.50 per live teaching hour

Who private tutoring may suit

Private tutoring may be useful for students who:

  • need help understanding a particular Chemistry topic;
  • want more individual explanation and feedback;
  • need support applying knowledge to unfamiliar or exam-style questions;
  • want targeted help with Chemistry calculations, practical or data-handling skills;
  • have a specific gap in understanding that needs focused attention;
  • need a more flexible or personalised pace than a group programme can provide;
  • want occasional one-to-one sessions rather than a regular programme.

Suitability is discussed during the initial enquiry so that the most appropriate tutoring route can be considered first.

Areas of support

Depending on the student's needs, private tutoring can focus on:

  • topic understanding;
  • Chemistry calculations;
  • applying knowledge to questions;
  • reviewing completed work and identifying next steps;
  • revision organisation and prioritisation;
  • practical, graphical and data-handling skills;
  • areas of the course that need further attention.

The focus does not have to be the same every session. Sessions can be planned around current priorities and changed as those priorities develop.

Making an enquiry

For GCSE and Combined Science students, the initial enquiry and arrangements should be made by a parent or carer.

A Level students may enquire directly, and parents or carers are also welcome to get in touch.

After an enquiry, the next step is a short discussion about the student's course stage, current needs, the type of support they are looking for and current availability. If private tutoring is a suitable fit, the first session can then be arranged.

Make an enquiry

Complete the short form below to tell Jake a little about the student, the course and the support required. Submitting an enquiry does not guarantee availability and no payment is taken at this stage.

Finding the right support

Private tutoring will not be the right route for every student. For many students, a structured group programme will provide the support they need at a substantially lower hourly cost.

Private tutoring is the premium option when a student needs more individual attention, flexibility or targeted one-to-one support.
