This 32-week programme combines targeted reteaching of difficult Chemistry content with calculations, practical understanding, data handling, examination technique, command words, retrieval and structured exam-question practice.

Who the programme is for
The programme is for GCSE Chemistry students who would benefit from consistent weekly support, including students taking separate Chemistry and relevant Combined Science students where focused Chemistry support is appropriate.
It is designed for students who need clearer understanding, stronger problem-solving and more structured practice across the GCSE course, with teaching that supports different starting points and learning needs within the group.
The weekly teaching focuses on core Chemistry knowledge, calculations, practical skills, graphs and data, and the application of understanding to exam questions.

A full-year programme with a clear purpose
This is not short-term revision or ad hoc weekly tuition. It is a structured weekly support programme designed to build stronger Chemistry understanding and exam readiness over time.
The programme develops Chemistry knowledge, calculations, practical skills, graphs and data handling, revision habits, exam technique and the application of understanding to exam questions.
The teaching follows a planned route, while still allowing room to respond to diagnostic work, student questions, common misconceptions and the needs of the group.

Feedback, catch-up and review
- live feedback during sessions
- selected photographed or scanned student work may be reviewed
- approximately one selected piece of work per four-week cycle may receive individual feedback where appropriate
- session recordings will normally be made available within the programme area for catch-up and review
Live attendance is strongly recommended so that students can participate, ask questions and receive feedback. An individual recording may occasionally be unavailable.
Structured weekly support with room to respond
The programme follows a planned route through GCSE Chemistry rather than changing direction each week only according to the next school test or homework question.
Chemistry understanding, calculations, practical skills, graphs and data, and exam technique are developed systematically across the programme, alongside regular application to exam questions.

Learn with Jake Byers
Jake Byers has 23 years of Chemistry teaching experience and holds a First-Class Chemistry degree and PGCE. His professional background also includes school leadership and AQA examiner experience.
His teaching combines clear explanations, careful diagnosis of misconceptions, structured practice and a strong focus on helping students apply Chemistry knowledge successfully.
Joining after the start
The programme begins in mid-September 2026.
Suitable students may join later if space remains available, the programme is a good fit for their GCSE Chemistry or Combined Science course, and realistic catch-up is possible without leaving essential foundations unresolved.
Where a later place is offered, the student will receive clear catch-up priorities identifying relevant knowledge, resources and practice.

The programme fee is 10 monthly payments of £64, paid in advance.
Across the full programme, students receive 32 live 60-minute sessions, so the total fee of £640 is equivalent to £20 per live teaching hour.
Students completing the full programme from the beginning will make 10 monthly payments, giving a total programme fee of £640.
Students joining later may have payment adjusted to reflect the live sessions remaining. The exact payment arrangement will be confirmed before the place is accepted.
